Design And Usability:
In this aspect Huawei hit, the Mate 10 Lite feels very good to the touch. And like his older brother, despite handling a large screen of almost 6 inches, he can not feel so big, thanks to the reduced frames he handles. The equipment has unibody metallic in this case very elegant black color. The back has a matte finish that feels very good and makes it not feel so slippery. The edges are curved with which they assure us a very good feeling of firmness. Emphasize that the camera stands out in the back a bit and makes the team “dance” when we support it on a table, but it can be avoided thanks to the case it includes.
We find a 5.9-inch screen at a resolution of 2,160 x 1,080 with IPS LCD technology. Despite not carrying OLED as it does the Pro version, the screen does not disappoint and gives a good representation of color in general, although it goes a little more to the warm tone. The viewing angles are somewhat regular because when you turn a little you lose brightness. Outdoors you feel that you lack some strength to be able to observe it without problems, so we will have to raise the brightness to 60-70% to be legible. Despite all this aspect ratio 18: 9 feels great and makes it stand out among other equipment of the same price
Huawei cared for the users and yes we put the 3.5mm audio connector, which is appreciated because at this point it is almost a rarity to see it. The audio that it emits is of good quality that yes, with the suitable hearing instruments, since those that it includes in the box are only regular. It is accompanied by a single external speaker located on the bottom that sounds good without more and with some distortion at high levels. A pity that has not followed the path of the Mate 10 Pro with its stereo system
Despite having fewer megapixels than the Mate 10 Pro (16 vs 20mp), the results are very similar, giving us a very effective color saturation, although at times, like the Pro is artificial. If you want more precision, you will have to play with the camera’s Manual mode. The second lens is dedicated to receiving information in order to better perform the portrait mode that it includes. The results are good although at times you feel the artificial defocus.
Regarding video, we are somewhat disappointed, since the Mate 10 Lite only supports maximum up to 1080p 30fps, leaving out options of 60fps or 4k. Nor does it include stabilization. The result is good without more, and enough for most, except for the staunchest users of video recording.
User Experience: Lights And Shadows
In the initial analysis, we already commented that the performance of the chip Kirin 659 was very good in the day to day and after a month of use the sensations are reaffirmed. There are no lags or unexpected closures in basic tasks such as consulting social networks, browsing, watching videos on YouTube or using simple games. However, it is when we bet on more demanding games where the limitations of the brain of this Huawei are noticed.
In General, although the experience is good, it is in the graphics performance that this Mate 10 Lite reminds us that we are facing a mid-range Smartphone. If you want a terminal to play at high power, this is not the best option.
The Lite Series Has An Interesting New Squire
The Mate 10 Lite had before it the complicated task of maintaining the essence of the Mate series while lowering the bar in specifications to contain the price, and the result is a balanced terminal that manages to capture the spirit of the famous phablet, but making it more affordable.
After spending a month living with the Huawei Mate 10 Lite, its design is undoubtedly one of the most convincing points. The feeling that it is a mobile superior to its range is maintained. It is a very sober mobile that you do not get tired of seeing.
Long story short, the Huawei Mate 10 Lite is a good option for those who want that phablet experience at a more affordable price. Speaking of price, the terminal can be obtained for $258 dollars (the official price was $280 dollars), and here comes its biggest handicap: competing in medium range increasingly saturated with very cheap options will not be easy
